The following are the syllabi for various levels. The topics actually covered are by no means limited to those listed below:-
Level 1/Year 1 (Beginners)
- The letters and sounds of the Greek alphabet
- Ordering drinks and food
- Requesting and following directions in the street
- Meeting people, giving information about yourself and eliciting information about them
- Going shopping, buying food, clothing, gifts, etc.
- Travelling around Greece, buying tickets for bus, train, plane
- Booking rooms at a hotel, pension, apartments, etc.
- Greek Hospitality; meeting the members of the family and introducing your friends and family
- All topics supported by visual aids and on-line resources
Level 2/Year 2 (Intermediate) - approximately GCSE standard
- Likes and dislikes - sports, hobbies and pastimes; comparisons and preferences
- Expressing opinions
- Plans for the future (the Future Tense)
- Business agenda, holiday diary, etc.
- Writing letters and emails
- Daily Routine
- Talking about the past (the Past Simple and Past Continuous Tenses)
- Sharing past experiences in Greece and Cyprus
Level 3/Year 3 (Post-Intermediate) - good level GCSE approaching A Level
- Continue talking about the past and planning the future
- Giving presentations on relevant topics
- Discussions, debates, expressing opinions on current affairs and cultural issues
- Greek films, literature, television, the news
- Interviews
- Writing essays, stories, poetry, jokes, etc.
